These were found at an estate sale in Southern Vermont, and I wasn't sure about them until I pulled them from the box. They are beautiful, and I've paired them with shades from Lake's Lampshades.
This fine pair of lamps features the signature authentic back stamp from the famous Samson of Paris factory. Edmé Samson was renowned for creating high-fidelity, hand-painted replicas of rare 18th-century Chinese Export porcelain. To denote his factory's work without deceiving buyers of the era, Samson cleverly integrated a unique pseudo-oriental character mark onto the bottom of the porcelain bodies. Today, these marked pieces have become highly prized by antique collectors in their own right.
Authentic Samson factory pseudo-mark on the bottom of the porcelain base, proving its 19th-century Parisian origin.
11" tall from base to top of porcelain.
